About: Steps Before Step Scanning 2.5

This is a version of Steps Before Step Scanning built for Mind Express 5. It includes the ability to create individual student launchers in addition to using the ready-made activities.

This collection of resources has been designed to help individuals with severe multiple and physical challenges to develop the motor/cognitive abilities to activate first a single switch, and then 2 switches, based upon the individual’s own intent.  There is no ‘timing’ aspect in any of these activities.  This is because slowing down enables the individual’s brain to more easily process the motor and cognitive information to form new neurological connections.

The ability to customize pictures, music and videos makes these activities engaging and motivating for individual students.

This is the first set of activities in series that will be available for children learning to use two switch step scanning.  All activities are based on the ‘Stepping Stones to Switch Access’ by Linda J. Burkhart.  Some of these activities were previously available for IntelliTools Classroom Suite.

What is needed to run this pageset?

A license to activate the Steps Before Step Scanning pageset by Linda Burkhart in Mind Express 5.

Hardware Requirements:

• Operating System: Microsoft Windows® 10 or higher
• Processor: Intel x86 compatible
• RAM: 2GB or more
• Free Hard Disk Space: 2GB or more
• Switches: Two switches and some type of interface that is able to send the keyboard equivalents 1 and 2

Software Requirements:

• Mind Express 5 permanent or yearly subscription (1 User) web license

Other Requirements:

• You will need to submit your Mind Express 5 serial number from the Menu > Help to purchase a Step Before Step Scanning license.
• The Windows 10 PC will need to have access to the Internet or World Wide Web to be able to properly activate the single user Steps Before Step Scanning pagesets license in Mind Express 5.

• This license will allow you to activate Steps Before Steps Scanning pagesets created by Jabbla in a Mind Express 5 permanent or yearly subscription (1 user) web license for 2 concurrent users.
• It will take approximately one to three business days to receive a Steps Before Step Scanning single user license confirmation activation email after purchasing it from this website.
• This license is only for Steps Before Step Scanning pagesets in Mind Express 5 by Jabbla, not Mind Express 5.

How to find the serial number in Mind Express 5:

1. Launch and sign in to Mind Express 5 on your Windows 10 PC. 
2. Choose a user in Mind Express 5.
3. Select Menu > Help in Mind Express 5.
4. The serial number for Mind Express 5 will appear in the Help window. The serial number will begin with ME. 

How to verify your Steps Before Step Scanning single user license has been activated in a Mind Express 5 web license after purchase:

1. Launch and sign into Mind Express 5 on your Windows 10 PC with access to the Internet. (Note: You need to sign in to Mind Express 5 with the same serial number that you entered to purchase Steps Before Step Scanning on this website.)
2. Choose a user in Mind Express 5.
3. Select Menu > Settings > System > License in Mind Express 5.
4. In License information, Activated pagesets should include TwoSwitches.

How to import Steps Before Step Scanning page set into Mind Express 5:

1. Launch and sign into Mind Express 5 on your Windows 10 PC with access to the Internet. (Note: You need to sign in to Mind Express 5 with the same serial number that you entered to purchase Steps Before Step Scanning on this website.)
2. Choose a user in Mind Express 5.
3. Select Menu > Import.
4. Click From Mind Express sharing website in the Import screen.
5. Select Education in the From Mind Express sharing website screen.
6. Perform a search for a Steps Before Step Scanning pageset or scroll down or up in the Education pagesets list until you find the Steps Before Step Scanning pageset that you want to import in the From Mind Express sharing website screen.
7. Select the Steps Before Step Scanning pageset that you want to import into the current Mind Express 5 user and click Import. 

Important Notes:
